Mental Health Uganda

Mental Health Uganda (MHU) is an indigenous Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) for people with and survivors of mental illness. It is a membership organisation owned by people with mental illness. The organisation was formed in 1997 with the aim to create a unified voice of people that influences the provision of required services and opportunities in favour of people with mental illness in Uganda.
Mental Health Uganda is geared towards addressing the plight of persons with mental illnesses including their consistent access and availability to Mental Health treatment in Uganda.

MHU works through community-based associations of people with mental illness and their caregivers to bring people with mental illness together to share experiences and breakthrough stories to create awareness and reduce social stigma.
